Foundations Study Committee
The Foundations Study Committee was formed in October 2008 by the UT Board of Trustees to evaluate and recommend policies to maximize private fundraising through foundations.
The committee’s purpose is to:
- Evaluate and recommend policies to maximize private fundraising through the UT Foundation, the UC Foundation, and any other future foundations necessitated by the university
- Engage in a fact-finding study of peer and aspirational institutions to determine best practices, roles and functions, and funding mechanisms and effectiveness
- Evaluate the UT Foundation, Inc. and the UC Foundation through the prisms of the information gathered and the environment in which the University of Tennessee operates
- Present recommendations to the full Board of Trustees on the roles, structure, and funding of the system’s current foundations, in addition to the possibility of recommendations of establishing other foundations
If after review, the Board of Trustees approves changes in operations of the foundations, the Committee will:
- Work with the Board of the UT and UC Foundations to align their charters and affiliation agreements with the goals and objectives set by the Board of Trustees.
