East Tennessee native and cultural icon Dolly Parton was the guest of honor at the May 8 commencement for UT Knoxville's College of Arts and Sciences.
She received an honorary doctorate -- for which, she can now be referred to as "Dr. Dolly." Obviously, it was one of the most attended and most exciting commencement ceremonies ever on campus.
Gov. Phil Bredesen introduced Dolly. Some members of the board attended the ceremony and were treated to Dolly's performance and inspiring commencement address.
Her message to "dream more" and "do more" is very fitting for graduates of the University of Tennessee. At the University, believe it is our job to equip students to follow and fulfill their dreams.
